Physical Education Department
 
The Physical Education Department includes health and fitness courses that are designed to include large muscle activities, neuromuscular coordination, rhythmic activities, self-testing activities, and body conditioning. All students will have a Fitness for Life Course incorporated into their Health program. Components of health and skill related fitness, the principles of training, risk factors, dimensions of wellness, goal setting, exercise safety, and personal improvement are explored as well as relationships, male and female reproduction, STI’s, HIV, AIDS, contraception, abstinence, and pregnancy. Aerobics covers all aspects of group exercise and fitness emphasizing the importance of lifelong fitness in a fun and exciting way.
 
Driver’s Education presents students with materials pertaining to motor vehicle laws, traffic safety, basic automobile maintenance, and automobile insurance.
 
Dance Techniques are elective courses that enable students to develop basic knowledge and skills in varied dance styles through acquisition of technique, choreographic skill, aesthetic awareness, and performance quality within a cultural and historical context.
 
Personal Life Design places an emphasis upon developing and maintaining healthy lifestyle habits on an individual basis. Its focus is geared to overall wellness, based on developing knowledge of nutrition, positive emotional development, weight management, and training habits. Students explore many relevant and current topics that affect their health and wellness.
 
In Officiating, students develop the skills necessary to become an official by learning the rules and mechanics of specific sports such as: field hockey, softball, baseball, soccer, basketball.
