Option Two Program
If you are interested in alternative ways to obtain credits for graduation, please check out RV's new Option Two program!

Community Service Program

Procedure for Earning Credit through Community Service:
1. Student submits the Volunteer Interest Form to the Guidance Supervisor.
2. Student arranges an initial contact meeting with Guidance Supervisor
    a. Explanation of program
    b. Outline or requirements
3. Student selects a non-profit agency for which he/she would like to
volunteer and contacts the volunteer coordinator at that agency.
The completed Volunteer Contract and the Volunteer Interest Form
must be returned to the Guidance Supervisor at RV BEFORE a
student begins work as a volunteer.
4. Student completes the necessary hours (24 hours = 1 credit), returns the     necessary evaluation forms (time sheet, agency evaluation, student evaluation),         and meets with the Guidance Supervisor to review RV’s evaluation of student’s performance in the program. If all components of the program have been satisfied, student’s transcript will reflect the credits earned. A student may earn a maximum of 10 credits (240 hours) during his/her high school career.
5. Student, who is completing Community Service for athletic eligibility,
needs to be aware of eligibility deadlines. See your counselor for
information.

Independent Study

An existing course, which a student wishes to take but cannot because of scheduling difficulties, may be taken under independent study if approved by the teacher, department supervisor, and the Guidance Supervisor. The Guidance Supervisor, not the student, will determine a “scheduling difficulty”.  See attaced files for more information.

Virtual High School

Students have the opportunity to work with others in a virtual classroom space – students and teachers from other states, other countries, and other cultures. It is a tremendous enhancement to a student’s educational experience and helps to better prepare students for college and work-force learning. For more information visit www.govhs.org
